Awakening

I awoke this morning
Very early
To a sky
The most delicate shade of amber
Turning bluejay
And felt as it
The earth was peering at me
Courting my companionship
Beckoning me
Out into the day
To share the brilliance
Of its rising
And so I found myself walking
Amidst the ferns and blooms
With a congregation
Of orchard maidens
Stretching their loins
In the early sun
And my heart was filled
With such tender stirrings
And a great reverence
For the living things
Around me
As we shared together
That great ritual of birth
Called the dawn
