The Heart Is a Canvas
The heart is a canvas
And most spend a lifetime
Priming its surface
In preparation of painting
Their own private Rembrandt
Their Monet' locked in their minds
Never quite able to express
That work of art inside
To touch a brush to the canvas
Or dip wood wands
Into pools of colorful emotion
And mix a palate
With shades of feeling
The heart is a canvas
And should be used
To make a statement in the world
Whether it is left blank
Or splashed with brilliant color
Is in the hands
Of the painter alone
